Northern Circuit 9 Days Kilimanjaro Climb
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2250 m) To Mti Mkubwa (2650 m)
Pickup from your hotel in Moshi and drive to Londorossi gate for registration formalities and trekking preparations. Start climbing through coffee and maize plantations leading into the tropical rainforest while spotting wild animals like elephants and bufallos. Continue hiking to reach Mti Mkubwa for dinner and sleep.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa (2750 m) To Shira 1 Camp (3500 m)
Trek out the rainforest into the moorland zone to reach Shira ridge. Break for lunch and proceed walking through the beautiful landscape to finally arrive at Shira 1 camp in the evening. Dinner and sleep at the camp.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp (3500 m) To Shira 2 Camp (3840 m)
The day is meant for acclimatization allowing your body getting used to high altitude. Explore the Shira plateau with displays such breathtaking scenery. Have lunch enroute and proceed hiking to finally reach Shira camp.
Day 4: Shira Camp 2 (3840 m) To Lava Tower (4630 m) To Moir Hut (4200 m)
Climb up the Shira Plateau while approaching Lava Tower (a 300 ft tall rock formation) to arrive around midday. Get time to rest and have lunch at the beautiful made tower. Descend and continue walking to reach Moir hut for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Moir Hut Camp (4200 m) To Buffalo Camp (4020 m)
Trek from Moir Valley while approaching summit of Lent Hills before joining the Northern Circuit trail. Proceed hiking while surveying the landscape offering stunning views across the plains that lie north of Kilimanjaro and stretch out to the Kenyan/Tanzanian border. The path leads to Buffalo camp for an overnight stay.
Day 6: Buffalo Camp (4020 m) To Third Cave (3870 m)
Climb to the top of ‘Buffalo Ridge’ across numerous ridges and gullies. The path crosses through remote valleys on to the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro. Have lunch enroute and continue walking to reach Third Cave for overnight stay.
Day 7: Third Cave (3870 m) To School Hut (4800 m)
Climb over the saddle, a lunar landscape between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Continue hiking to reach School Hut around afternoon to have lunch. Rest upon arrival and drink large amounts of water in preparation for the summit day. It’s recommended to sleep early by 19:00.
Day 8: Ascend To Uhuru Peak (5895 m)
Wake up around 23:30 for a hot cup of coffee and putting on trekking gears. Leave by midnight and start ascending through loose volcanic scree to reach Kilimanjaro’s main crater rim at Gillman’s Point (5,685 m). Arrive around sunrise for an amazing experience as the sun glows on the glaciers. Rest for before the final attempt to the summit.
Take a round trip to Uhuru peak (5896 m) and stand at the roof of Africa while feeling accomplished. Get time for photographs and rest. Start descending which is quite fast to reach Mweka Hut (3100m) in the evening. Dinner and sleep at the hut.
Day 9: Retrace Through Forest To Mweka Gate
After breakfast, proceed hiking down through the rainforest to finally reach Mweka gate. Get awarded with certificates where green certificates are given to hikers who reached Gilman’s and golden certificates to the ones who reached Uhuru peak.
Show gratitude to the team by tipping guides, porters and cookers according to satisfaction level. Retreat back to Mweka village about an hour walk for a transfer to Moshi/Arusha.
