Kilimanjaro and Safari 12 Days Tour

Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2,250m) To MtiMkubwa Camp (2,650m)

In the morning, drive from Moshi to Londorossi gate for registration formalities and trekking preparations. Take another 12 km ride further north to the climbing starting point. Have lunch and thereafter start climbing through the rainforest while spotting wild animals including bufallos and elephants. The path finally leads to Mti Mkubwa camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa (2,650m) To Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Trek from the rainforest into the moorland zone to reach at Shira ridge which displays such magnificent views. Have lunch enroute and proceed with the walk to reach Shira camp in the late afternoon. Dinner and sleep at the camp.

Day 3: Shira Camp 1 (3,610m) To Moir Hut (4,206m)

Trek towards the Shira plateau while exploring the beauty that the landscape displays. This enables your body to acclimatize(getting used to high altitude). The path leads to Moir hut to arrive in the late afternoon for resting, dinner and sleep.

Day 4: Moir Hut (4,206) To Lava Tower (4,600m) To Barranco Camp (3,900m)

Trek steadily up a ridge towards Lava tower which provides an extra day for acclimatization. At the tower get time to rest and have lunch. Descend down the tower and continue with the walk to reach at Barranco camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,900m) To Karanga Camp (4,000m)

Climb through the steep Barranco wall into the Karanga valley. Break for lunch and proceed with the path to reach the camp in the evening. Dinner and sleep at the camp.

Day 6: Karanga Camp (4,000m) To Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Leave out of Karangaand walk to the junction connecting with Mweka trail. The path leads to Barafu camp to arrive in the late afternoon. Spend some quality personal time resting and gaining energy for the final summit. It’s advised to take large amount of water and sleep early by 19:00.

Day 7: Ascend To Uhuru Peak (5,895m)

Wake up by 23:30 for a hot cup of coffee and putting on trekking gears. Start climbing by midnight through the volcanic screen to reach Stella point (5756m) by sunrise. Take time to rest and make the final round trip to reach Uhuru Peak (5895m). At the summit, take pictures while feeling accomplished standing at the roof of Africa. Start descending which is quite fast. The path leads to Mweka hut (3,100m) to arrive in the evening for dinner and sleep.

Day 8: Mweka Camp (3,100 m) to Mweka Gate (1,640 m)

Descendthrough moorland into the beautiful lush green forest. Arrive at the gate by mid-day for tipping the crew (guides, porters and cookers) and certificate awards. Green certificates are awarded to hikers who reached Gilman’s and golden to the ones who reached Uhuru peak. Drive back to Arusha for resting and much celebrations.

Day 9: Transfer To Serengeti National Park For Game Drive

Pickup from your accommodations in Arusha and drive to the exclusive Serengeti national park for about 6 hours.Have lunch upon arrival and proceed with an afternoon game drive exploring the vast Serengeti plains. Transfer to the booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Full Day Game Drive In Serengeti

Leave for a day’s game drive in the park spotting big cats, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, antelopes and others. Come across a variety of bird species. Break for a picnic lunch and proceed with game view till evening. Transfer to the booked hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Checkout the hotel with packed lunch and drive to Ngorongoro. Descend down the Ngorongoro caldera which is a home to thousands of animals of birds. Game drive in the crater spotting the big five (the only place where big five can be seen at once), elephants, giraffes, elands, hyenas, antelopes, oryx, jackals and others. Come across variety of bird species. Break for a picnic lunch and proceed with game viewing till evening. Ascend out the crater and drive to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 12: Maasai Cultural Tour and Transfer To Arusha

Have and a tasty breakfast and checkout the hotel with a packed lunch. Leave for a tour to the Maasai village in the Ngorongoro plains. Proceed with a walking safari to see their bomas (traditional houses made with cow’s dung and timber). Get a chance to learn about their culture and see their traditional activities including local dances and local handcrafts like ornaments. Break for a picnic lunch and proceed with the journey back to Arusha or airport for a flight back home.
